Private Lessons
High School age and up
During private lessons, I strive each week to help my students learn healthy singing techniques, effective practicing habits, and good performance skills. Confidence levels grow and students develop resilience and the ability to do hard things. All lessons include a 15-minute warm-up/technique lesson tailored to each student, plus the study of at least one song. Longer lessons may include music theory and sight reading instruction. Repertoire is appropriate to the age and ability of each student and will range from classical to musical theater and jazz (I usually don't study repertoire from the pop genre). Each student will have an opportunity to perform in one or two recitals per year, as well as other school based competitions and performances if desired.

materials and practice expectations
Materials Needed
Students must come to each lesson prepared with their own copy of the music (not mine), a spiral notebook and a recording device. Student's will reference the weekly notes and lesson recording to practice each day. |
Practicing Expectations
Practicing is the key to getting better at anything and that is especially true of singing. If one does not practice, one should not expect to improve much at all. Students are strongly encouraged to practice 5-6 days per week for 30 minutes/day. Memorization of songs should be done outside of the lesson. |
virtual opportunities
Virtual lessons are a great way to learn how to sing, whether you live abroad, have limited transportation, or you find yourself in a global pandemic! I have experience teaching all age groups and look forward to helping each of my students develop their musical talents! During online lessons, students will learn healthy singing techniques, basic theory and sight reading skills, as well as effective practicing habits. Repertoire is appropriate to the age and ability of each student and will range from folk song and classical to musical theater and film. Each semester we will work toward specific technique and musical goals, memorize at least one song, and develop performance skills, with a chance to perform virtually or in-person, according to the student's desires.
